Aizawl: A lone BJP member, Laxmi Bikash Chakma left the party on Wednesday and joined the Congress, a government statement said.
When the saffron party in the other North-eastern states is celebrating its recent victories, Chakma left the BJP when Mizoram is going to poll by the end of this year, MPCC statement said.
It may be mentioned that Chakma’s decision signifies that the lotus would never bloom in Mizoram.
L B Chakma was elected in the CADC by-election on April 24, 2016 and was the only BJP member in the whole state which has three autonomous district councils.
Meanwhile, Congress president Rahul Gandhi earlier broke his silence on the party’s defeat in three northeast states and said, the Congress party respects the mandate of the people of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya.
