Governor Acharya graces the Pongyin Mozu Moyong festival

The 15th session of the Pongyin Mozu Moyong festival was graced by the Nagaland Governor, P.B Acharya at Mount Langshai Campus, near Wangti village under Mon district. Pongyin Mozu Moyong is a festival of the minority indigenous communities.

A statement by the PRO, Raj Bhavan said that the governor, while addressing the gathering said that as citizens of India, everyone should enjoy equal rights and opportunities. He also stated that India, being a democratic and secular nation that respects diversity, should ensure that every citizen enjoys electricity, drinking water, schools, hospitals and proper road connectivity etc.

He assured that he would look into the problems faced by the people and take those matters up with the concerned authority.

Also, calling upon the gathering, Acharya asked them to preserve their cultures and traditions and incalculate those into the younger generation as well. Further, he added that culture was the base of a human being to march forward and the mother tongue was our identity.

Other highlights of the event included short speeches delivered by chairman, Wangti village council, Pongthra Angh and ex-assistant commandment, VG Chingjei.

The function was chaired by S.Hoya and the welcome address was given by Nahwang Langshai, the vote of thanks by Dr. N. Yahoi Konyak. Also, a special number and a folk song were presented by students of Nengwang school and the Langshai women respectively.
