After the proposal for setting up of a National Sports University in Manipur was formally announced in the Budget Speech of FY 2014-15, it seems that construction will finally begin following the announcement by Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to lay the foundation of the university.
The Chief Minister inspected the construction site at Koutruk village in Manipur’s Imphal West District along with a team of officials.
In the meantime, due arrangements are being made for the varsity to commence its maiden session at the existing Khuman Sports Complex in Imphal, one of the most well developed sports complex in the country, by sanctioning a sum of Rs 5 Crore.
