The NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance has once again proved the power of coalition as the newly elected Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma has proved his majority in the state assembly today.
Sangma had to go through a floor test today to remain on the post of Chief Minister. Therefore, he showed his majority in the state assembly today and won the floor test.
The incumbent Chief Minister who is heading the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government has the support of 35 MLAs in the House of 60 that has helped him today to win this vote of confidence.
NPP Chief Conrad Sangma was sworn in as the 12th Chief Minister of Meghalaya on March 6.
The MDA party was formed by the coalition of six non-Congress parties, including one Independent MLA that has resulted in the formation of the Non-Congress government in the state.
As per information, after the formation of the government in the state, the opposition raised some questions countering the MDA alliance and its formation by a false means.
Former Chief Minister was the first in the list to raise such questions.
“The political parties in their campaigns have promised the innocent people of the State that they have no access to BJP. The various political parties had also clearly stated they will not have any connection with the BJP,” former CM said.
In a reply to these questions, the Chief Minister said, “I don’t think there is any kind of doubt in this. Even in the letter of support of MLAs which was submitted to the Government, everyone has mentioned that they are expressing their support to the NPP led Government under the leadership of Conrad K Sangma.”
Now the Chief Minister has proved his majority in the state assembly and has won the floor test.
