With only one day left for the Assembly election in Meghalaya, the Election Department which was running voter’s awareness programs in the state has organized a Concert to connect the youth of the state and to motivate them to use their power to vote.

The Election Department, with an aim of connecting the youth of the state to their voting rights, is organizing various awareness programs for few months.
In the final days before elections, the Department has organized a Music Concert as it is a bridge between the youth and various activities in the state.
“Rock the Boat with Your Vote” concert was organised at Ward’s Lake on Saturday.
The concert had first of its kind floating stage and it was set on fire with some soulful performances by the bands like Summersalt and Khasi Bloodz.
Ward’s Lake is generally a favourite rendezvous for young lovers of the state, keeping this in mind the election department has organized this concert here.
After the concert, the election department also gave a demonstration of how to use VVPAT machines, as the state is going to vote via VVPATs for the first time.
An official, Iron Zeal Wreang, told reporters that music has helped in attracting youngsters.
“We want to encourage the young voters because we want to educate them to give them awareness because it is their right to choose their own legislator to form the government,” he said.
Adding to this, they encouraged the youth saying, “Choose, Caste, Celebrate”.
Meghalaya to go for election on February 27 and the results will be declared on March 3 along with the results of the two other poll-bound states Nagaland and Tripura.
