Prime Minister Narendra Modi is most likely to have a visit to Shillong on December 16th. The State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh informed that the party still awaits the final confirmation from the Prime Minister’s Office, but the speculations are, PM Modi would visit Meghalaya in the mid of December.
Lyngdoh, while speaking to the media, said and hinted that Modi might be visiting for a government programme, “We are yet to receive any confirmation though the visit was supposed to be either on December 15 or 16”. However, the Chief Secretary Y. Tsering and DGP SB Singh said that they have not received any information about the visit of PM Modi yet.
When the BJP central leader Nalin Kohli was contacted to throw some light on Modi’s visit, he said that the Prime Minister was likely to visit Meghalaya. Nalin Kohli further added that he just returned to Delhi on Sunday from Shillong and hence he did not have much idea on PM Modi’s visit.
HOME MINISTER RAJNATH SINGH’S VISIT WAS CANCELLED TO PAVE WAY FOR PM MODI’S VISIT
Earlier it was speculated that Home Minister Rajnath Singh had planned to visit Meghalaya, to address booth-level BJP workers covering 29 Assembly constituencies of East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, West Khasi Hills and Shillong City. Rajnath Singh’s proposed visit was on December 7th. He also had the plan to inaugurate the party office in the state. But, as per the sources, the Home Minister’s visit was cancelled so that the visit of the Prime Minister could be planned which would boost the party just ahead of the polls.
It is also expected that the party might rope in at least five MLAs who are being led by Congress legislator AL Hek.
