Nagaland has recently received a new government in the state on Thursday. The leaders of BJP-NDPP coalition govt after holding their respective portfolios held their first Cabinet Meeting where the new CM announced that they will not appoint parliamentary secretaries in the state.
BJP MLA to be a pro tem speaker
The newly elected Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has recently made an announcement after the first cabinet meeting with the ministers.
As per the announcement, the state government will not appoint parliamentary secretaries as according to the CM, People’s Democratic Alliance will not go against the law of the land.
Newly elected CM Neiphiu Rio made the statement after assuming office on Thursday.
He also said he had discussed the matter with legal experts and the alliance partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Apart from this, NDPP Legislative party Chief also announced BJP MLA Mmhonlumo Kikon will be a pro tem speaker of the state Legislative Assembly.
Rio, during an interaction with the media of the state, also stressed that the new government would play its role as an ‘active facilitator’ and work towards bringing all groups together.
During this interaction, He also stressed on the early solution of the prolonged Naga issue that has led to a major ruckus in the state prior to the elections.
By the medium of the state media, the new Chief Minister also urged the groups still outside the negotiation process to join it in order to usher such a solution that will be accepted by the state.
On the matter of sharing of Cabinet seats, the Chief Minister said two ministerial positions of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) were allotted to Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and Independent MLAs respectively.
