Congress President Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the poll-bound state Tripura in the mid of January. His visit will be essential to boost the party workers for the upcoming elections in the state. Here, he will address a convention of the party’s booth level workers.

Conventions will be the biggest in the history

Tripura is soon going to have elections for the 60 Assembly seats, for this, the political parties and its ace leaders are making every way possible to win the race to the Assembly.

Meanwhile, the newly elected Congress President Rahul Gandhi is also set to visit the state to conduct the convention of the party’s booth level workers.

Tripura Pradesh Congress President Birajit Sinha while giving the information said the proposed convention will be one of the biggest in the State’s history, which will be attended by over seven thousand delegates.

Along with this, he also informed, Rahul Gandhi will also meet a group of five hundred selected people to have their views on various issues.

Sinha said the date for the visit has not yet been finalized. However, it will be tentatively between January 10 to 15.

It is learned that apart from Tripura, the Congress president also will attend similar programmes in Meghalaya and Nagaland, which are also going to polls along with Tripura in February next year.

As per the party sources, Rahul Gandhi is giving much importance in these three States as it is going to be his first election after his promotion to the top position of the party.

“Many are of the opinion that polls are going to be the litmus test for his leadership,” party sources said.

In Meghalaya and Nagaland, the Congress will fight to capture power but in Tripura its main aim will be to prevent the BJP from capturing power, which will, on the other hand, benefit the Left-front, political intellectuals feel.

BJP to start election campaign from Dec 27

As Congress is all set for the upcoming Tripura elections, BJP is nowhere behind as the party has announced to start its election campaigning from December 27.

The party will organize its election campaign from December 27 that will cover the 60 constituencies of the state.

BJP has lined up rallies across the state to be attended by ministers, MPs, MLAs, and office-bearers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur.

The BJP is ruling in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh while Manipur has a BJP-led government. Now the party is focussing on the three poll-bound states of Northeast that are scheduled for the elections next year.

During an interaction with the media, Sunil Deodhar, BJP’s Tripura in charge said, “On December 27, we’ll start a campaign for the polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will campaign in the Tripura polls”.

The BJP has lined up rallies by central ministers in the first week of January. “We are trying for a rally either by Prime minister or Amitbhai or Yogiji in the first week of January,” Deodhar said.
