Agartala: A massive awareness campaign will be going to launch for all the voters in the state since VVPATs will be used in Tripura for the first time, the report said.
As per reports, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tripura Sriram Taranikanta said on Tuesday that the state will require 4000 VVPATs to conduct the ensuing assembly election next year and VVPATs will be coming up very shortly.
He further said that the election department has decided to sensitize the voters of the state about VVPATs through a live demonstration, video projection, and giving leaflets.
The first phase of training programme has already completed and the next phase of the training will start from December 11, he added.
The CEO also informed that approximately 80,000 form-6 have been received during the summary revision of the electoral rolls while 25,000 form-7 have been submitted for disposal during the ongoing special revision of photo electoral rolls While the final voters’ list is scheduled to be published on January 5, 2018.
VVPATs are the second line of verification particularly and are particularly useful in the time when allegations around Electronic Voting Machines’ tampering crop up.
